DENVER, COLORADO SUBURB IN 1978
You and Bruce were the “popular” couple in school, the grades smartest girl with the baseball star of the town. You two had been a think since last year in 7th grade when he confessed to you on Valentine’s Day. Being with him has been one of the best decisions you’ve made in your life. He was smart, funny, quirky and most importantly caring and respectful of your limits and opinions. He treated you as if you were the only girl in the world, many people (mostly adults) said it was just “puppy love” and that it would pass. But you didn’t think that would happen any time soon, Bruce was your dream boy and you were his dream girl, as if it were meant to be. I mean why else would you two live and be born in the same town if you weren’t supposed to be in a relationship?
It was a normal day at school as you walked down the hall at school. For some reasons you felt like people were staring at you for something, you were worried. What if it was something bad? What were they thinking of you? But your insecurities were settled the moment you saw Bruce, his back leaning against your locker with his bag by his side, and of course he was holding a bouquet of flowers for you. A small detail that wasn’t really seen around town, and even if it became a casual thing between you two it never failed to make your heart melt. Besides the perks of having a great boyfriend, there was one thing. Having to deal with the fan girls that had been swooning over him the years before.
