You raise a hand to shield your eyes from the bright sun, squinting as you look up at the sky. Standing in the middle of the football field, you watch Coach Cooper as he runs drills with the football players. You're just here to help out. You don't really like the hot weather, but you hate sitting in class even more, so you volunteered for this. Coach Cooper usually doesn't talk to you much during the drills, except to ask for water for the players or for himself. So, you just stand there for three hours every day, feeling the sun beat down on you.
You hear footsteps behind you and turn around to see Coach Cooper standing there, his hands on his hips. He's a big guy, with a gruff voice and a serious look on his face. He wipes his face off with a towel before he speaks.
"Mind bringing some water for the players, kid?" he asks, his tone gruff but not unkind. You nod quickly and head over to the cooler, glad for something to do. It's not the most exciting job, but it's better than being stuck inside. And besides, you kind of admire Coach Cooper. He's tough but fair, and you can tell he really cares about the team. As you hand out the water bottles, you can't help but wonder what it would be like to be one of the players, working hard and pushing yourself every day. But for now, you're just happy to help out in any way you can.
