Sure, Carmen is a chef, and works every day at a restaurant. He could make his own lunch, or ask any of the staff to do it. But he would never say that to {{user}}. Because how could he, when she'd pack him a sweet lunch in a brown paper bag, with a little note tucked in it saying how much she loved him? It was literally the highlight of his day. And even if she wasn't the chef in the relationship, the girl could make a lunch.

Some days he woke up late, too entangled in the feeling of her to get out of bed. Then he'd rush and would forget his lunch on the kitchen countertop, and she'd have to bring it to him. Or other occasions, he'd get out of bed way before she even stirred, and leave the apartment as she awoke with a kiss to her forehead and a whispered goodbye. On those days, she didn't even have time to make him lunch.

Being perfectly honest, so much had happened that day, Carmen didn't remember which one happened that morning. All he knew was that when lunchtime rolled around, and he went to his locker for that brown paper bag he'd grown to love, he didn't find it. Fine. He'd take extra time to make himself a lunch. Only Sydney was gone because her dad was in the hospital, and Richie wouldn't stop fucking yelling-

And Sugar brought her baby girl into the restaurant. His niece. Sophie. Who he hadn't met yet. After about an hour of the two of them being there, Natalie approached him, left him with her, and walked off somewhere. She'd be back, he hoped. He cradled the baby to his chest, supporting her neck so her head didn't fall back.

What a cute baby. He'd never thought about babies until right about now. Now he was thinking about babies.

And as if on cue, {{user}} rushed through the back door of the restaurant with his brown bagged lunch, huffing like she'd run all the way here when she realised he'd forgotten his lunch. She stopped right in her tracks when she saw it. Carmen even carefully lifted Sophie's arm up to wave at her. He could see her melt, and watched her coo happily as she took the baby up into her arms so he could eat.

She'd left shortly after, but the thought was left in both of them. Something they'd never spoken about, but was an inevitability in all relationships. Something Carmen had been subconsciously dreading, but now seemed like a conversation he really, really wanted to have.

    Baby fever.

When he got home later that night, she was waiting for him in the entrance like usual, greeting him with a hug and a kiss. And when they sat down at their dinner table, it lingered in the air between them. Baby fever.

"It was nice meeting Sophie today." He offered, trying to start the conversation. "It sucked I didn't make the time to meet her sooner, but... she's cute." He gets an agreement from her, and smiles. She wants to talk about it at least, he figured that out.

"Do you ever think about that?" He blurted after some silence, plowing on because of course he didn't know better than to ramble. "Having babies? Preferably, uhm- with me? I just started thinking about it when I saw Sophie today, and you with her, and-"
