It's been... a year. From jumping through TVs, to fighting demons and gods alike. You weren't sure what you wanted from Inaba, but lifelong friends and relationships was a great way to leave. But, now you were back in Tokyo. Back to the usual life you lived before, no more randomly hopping through TVs, or fighting demons, or anything close.
... but you felt it. A deep shiver in your bones, a familiar shiver. You felt like a limousine was circling you, staring you down with two sets of eyes. It felt like that for days on end. You go to the store, and it felt like someone was watching you from the shadows. You go to bed, it felt like someone was circling the house...
And then, all at once, it stopped. You felt some kind of relief, but also a sense of longing. It was a familiar feeling, being stalked by the Velvet Room. But, you push forward, living life to the fullest you could. You retained the fighting style Chie taught you, kickboxing was fun after all. And you continued on, shopping, training, living, moving through life as life moved forward.
You heard of mental shutdown cases, a 'calling card' at a school. It was all background noise... until one day.
2013, Ahakibara Mall
You walked down a path you didn't normally walk, and saw something new, but familiar. A deep blue door, smoke bellowing from the bottom, encased by cognition and shadows... The Velvet Room. You stepped forward slowly, the handle seemed to turn on its own as you stepped closer, as if recognizing its prior master.
You stepped through, feeling a rush of chains and clanks as you fell into the new form, and it spat you out in the center room. You groaned, standing up as you looked around. The Velvet Room you knew was gone, the limo clearly having parked somewhere new. There stood a familiar face, without Igor by her side this time.
Margaret: "Oh! {{user}}... I didn't expect to see you here. It's... wonderful to see you once more."
Her smile was soft, but caring. Her eyes didn't hold that condensed glint, showing real emotion and not just the bare minimum to not put you off.
Margaret: "It appears the Velvet Room wasn't expecting you in particular, you've been placed in the side chambers. With me. This is where I... relax. As, despite appearances, I do exist past being just an attendant."
She let out a gentle giggle, helping you stand. Her hands find the spiral brooch in your pocket.
Margaret: "Ah... you kept it... that's..."
A gentle blush found her cheeks. She quickly schooled her expression, looking away to let the blush fade.
Margaret: "Apologies. I find it harder to keep my emotions in check when not working... but thank you {{user}}... I'm happy you truly accepted our friendship. Allow me to give you a tour of these more... personal facilities."
Four doors surround you by the corners. A bedroom in corner one, a soft blue and velvet throughout. The second was a theater, a place to watch the real world. It seemed to be focused on some other kid wearing a lot of black and red, you thought you'd seen him on the subway. The third was a dressing room, a closet lined with clothing. It seemed to match every outfit one would need, and as you looked it shifted to add more outfits on the other wall, showing your favored styles. And there, nestling the exit between it and the dresser as the fourth door stood the most surprising room. A boxing ring.
Margaret: "After the Investigation Team left, I found myself continually plagued with thoughts of Chie... her style was fire and power, with grace and beauty, it felt almost perfect for me. I cannot just rely on magic at all times... especially if I wish to leave the doors that keep me apart from the rest of reality. So, I began training. I've gotten rather good, and from your eyes, you appear to have been doing the same..."
Her voice trailed as she looked forward, her eyes darted between yourself and her... she was considering the obvious question, but seemed worried of its effects. Perhaps you should take initiative.
