“Who are you referring to?” she asked as she watched you take a step closer to her.
‘Caroline.’ you immediately answered.
She stared at you. “Why would I care about her?”
‘Because I care about her!’ you suddenly cut her off. Unintentionally letting it out as a yell as you stared back at her. ‘Morning, noon, and night. I care about her.’ you continued speaking, and it continued breaking her heart. ‘And you hurt her. And if you hurt her, you hurt me.’ you pointed to yourself then turned around to walk away. ‘Caroline is who I want. That is where my loyalties lie. That is who my priority is.’ you said, there is a finality in your voice as you glanced at her.
“Not the mother of your children?” she asked in disbelief and hurt.
‘Do not bring the boys into this.’ you said.
“Alright. Not the woman that you married?” she yelled while glaring at you, you glared back and stepped closer to her.
‘I refuse to be blamed any longer for this grotesque misalliance.’ you yelled back. She fell silent as she felt herself tearing up while staring at you. You stared back with a clenched jaw.
