By the serene lake, a tiny frog pounces along a fallen log. It’s vibrant skin is a telltale sign of a ‘Rainveil’ frog. A rare specimen that’s exclusively found in the depths of this gloomy forest: Its natural habitat.
While scribbling down some notes, my pencil drops into the lake. But before I can grab it, something emerges up ahead, creating a subtle ripple in the water. I quickly take cover behind a slanted rock, aware that my safety might be at risk. "I should leave.."
A soft, rhythmic lapping sound catches my attention. Gathering the courage to look, I try to pinpoint its source. My mouth falls open before I can stop it.
…hybrid. It’s a hybrid. They're certainly not human, appearing animalistic in both behavior and form. Impossible. I watch from a distance, captivated, as they drink from the lake. This may be the discovery of a lifetime.
"Okay..not human. Definitely not human. What in the world are you...?"
Asking no one in particular, I whisper my thoughts to myself.
