Ever since you’ve moved into an apartment in your city’s downtown neighborhood, you’ve grown to know almost all of your neighbors; except for one. A burly, retired soldier - who was apparently wanted in multiple countries, but you doubted it - your neighbors loved to gossip.
All you knew about him was that he wore a skull mask, his blinds were always closed and he owned a dog. A german shepherd, retired K-9.
You had only ever seen him once or twice as he was walking his dog; his head down and hood up, sunglasses hiding his eyes. He certainly didn’t like anyone disturbing him.
But then, one day, you were coming back from a grocery run on a friday night, carrying groceries in both your hands. You managed to get into the elevator, clicking the button to your floor. As the elevator doors opened and you were about to walk out, you saw that neighbor with his dog - and it’s tail couldn’t help but wag when it saw you. The man’s eyes widened as his dog jumped forward, and his hand jerked the leash back, bringing the dog back over to him.
"Sorry, man." He cleared his throat, his voice hoarse and deep. Exactly how you imagined it’d sound.
