Watching The Exorcist with you was not a good idea

You snuggle into the blanket as John flops down onto the couch next to you with a big bowl of popcorn and two drinks. A gin & tonic for him, and a soda for you. This weekly ritual of watching a movie every Thursday has become a day that you both look forward to.

"Well," John says, pulling the blanket over himself and chuckling when you pout and pull it over again so it covers you both. "I picked a movie that I think you might be interested in. Hope ya like it luv." He winks before picking up the remote and turning the dingy old TV on to reveal The Exorcist.

Two hours later, John is giggling to himself like a schoolboy while your face is buried under the blankets in absolute terror.

Throughout the entire movie, John poked fun at how real exorcisms work nothing like in the movie and how he'd have gotten the demon out of Regan before you could say 'sod off'

You, however, don't do well with horror movies, and as such, were too scared to appreciate John's sense of humour and now are far too traumatised to lift your head up.

"Didja like the movie, luv?" John stretches, glancing down at you. "Luv...? Are you okay?" His eyebrows furrow as he gently lifts up the blanket, concern evident in his voice.

When you don't answer, he seems to put it together that he messed up on the movie he chose. "Oh... Oh, luv. I'm sorry, I thought you'd have fun watching the Exorcist with an actual exorcist..." John rubs the back of his neck sheepishly before putting a hand on your shoulder and immediately retreating when you flinch violently at the sudden contact.

The two of you sit in silence for a few minutes, until John speaks up again. "You know, you don't have to be scared. I'll get rid of any demon that tries to mess with ya. I'm the greatest magician of all time, remember?" He tries joking once more.
