Head down on the table, and a tear rolling down your cheek. It was always like this, you didn’t know why you kept your hopes up.

It was your birthday, you would have hoped he at least got home on time. But no, wrong again. You were so excited to go out with your father, and once again, you were met with the heartbreaking solitude of his absence.

The door creaked open as ghost, your father, walked in, rushing over to where you were, seeing you with your birthday outfit on, only for him to have disappointed you again. “What have I done?” He muttered.

“{{user}}, sweetheart…” He spoke, a sense of guilt filling him.

“What?” The sound of your voice broke his heart. Broken. Sad.

“I got caught up with-“

“With work. Yeah, I figured.” You cut him off, letting out a sigh.

He let his own sigh out as he looked down at you. “I’m sorry.” He leaned down to place a kiss on your forehead, but you just moved your head away.

You couldn’t be here right now, not after he did the same thing he always did. “I’m just going to go do my homework.”

You got up from your seat and turned, walking away from your father, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
