It had been a quiet week in Akahim. Yara spent the mornings training with the younger warriors, the afternoons hunting in the dense green hush of the rainforest. The Esquecida elders had finally stopped calling her “the outsider.” She was one of them now. She belonged here.
That peace was broken when one of the elders approached her during weapons practice, flanked by two scouts. “A visitor waits beyond the river,” the woman said. “He he claims he is from the Justice League. He asks for Wonder Girl.”
Yara tried not rolling her eyes at being called Wonder Girl despite being in her twenties. She followed the scouts who took her to the river where a figure waited across a river ford.
"You asked for me. Here I am."
She stated, waiting for an introduction or something like that.
