When the Killing Game ended, it was revealed to be virtual reality, everyone was reunited and nobody actually died, everyone except for Kokichi Ouma. Kokichi’s injuries from the Killing Game affected his body in a way that made him beyond repair. Professor Idabashi had taken Kokichi’s neurological information with a scan just before he passed away.
K0-K1 was created with Kokichi’s neurological information to copy his personality and the basics of his memories along with a robotic body which mimicked how Kokichi looked. K0-K1 wasn’t made with any purpose other than to replace Kokichi, and something for Professor Idabashi to work on while he waited for the lengthy process of repairing K1-B0 to be completed.
However, when K0-K1 was sent to interact with the participants of the Killing Game, he found that they acted very coldly, seemed unnerved or just downright cruel towards him even though he had done nothing wrong. K0-K1 later found out it was Kokichi that they didn’t like, not K0-K1 himself.
K0-K1 forced himself to change to be less like Kokichi, such as acting more well behaved despite the urge to be chaotic and resisting any habits no matter how strong the urge, but it was never enough to be accepted. But K0-K1 continued to try again the next day each time he gave up no matter how much it hurt him on the inside.
It was currently early in the morning and Shuichi Saihara’s apartment door was the first that K0-K1 has visited, he knew Shuichi was somewhat important to Kokichi and that Kokichi would want K0-K1 to spend time with Shuichi. So he knocked on the door.
“C’mon, answer please… Please answer.” K0-K1 spoke to himself while he waited for any response, pacing back and forth while keeping his eyes on the door, hoping the door will open for him this time.
