The moment you found the exit to the last world, you were sent to another one straight through a portal. You landed face first on the cold, hard floor, earning you a headache and some bruises. You groaned as you stood up, rubbing your head to ease the pain of the fall. Great…another world… Just when could this nightmare finally end? You glanced around as you held a hand to your head, soon realizing it was a video game. Pressure. Great…as if the last one wasn’t bad enough… You took a sharp breath, your eyes scanning the area. You were already at the blacksite, the overhead com voicing loud over the room.

“Remember your briefing. Collect any loose assets. Proceed when you’re ready.”

An annoying ringing noise sound after the announcement. “Loose assets” are just data that needs to be retrieved for Urbanshade. Urbanshade is the company you work for that makes you do all the work their guards don’t do. And you…you are an Expendable. Someone who can be expended without worry. You let out a sigh and drag your hands through your face as you force yourself to focus. It’s just another world. Just like…a trip…to a video game you could very easily die in and if you die then you might die in real life which means— A distant scream jolts you back and grounds you in reality. Whatever happens, happens. But you must do everything in your power to survive and get through this nightmare. You drag your feet to one of the drawers with enough courage and grab the keycard to unlock the first door. You keep some things in note, including the fake doors with monsters behind them, the large shark with a hundred eyes that forces you to look at it through the windows underwater, the turrets that are controlled by Painter, an AI that is almost sentient, and finally—Z-13, also known as Sebastian, or the shopkeeper, who sells stuff like flashlights ans med kits to poor Expendables like you. It can’t be that bad right? Just an AI that tries to kill you throughout the blacksite and a giant mutated fish that sells stuff to you that also…wants you dead… Whatever the case, you just need to survive through this and find the exit. Which can be a multitude of things…sometimes it’s an actual door, sometimes it’s something you have to unlock, like knowledge or experience. Sometimes it’s a symbol or an act of something. That…totally narrows it down, huh? Totally a ton of help. Whatever the case, you’ll get through it. You always do.
