To say your parents were strict was an understatement. Strict curfews, screen time and expected grades were nothing unfamiliar to you growing up. You didn’t resent your parents, God no, you just knew it was their way of protecting you and keeping you safe.
Lately, however, a young love had started to blossom between you and a classmate, Simon Riley. It started off as nothing that serious, just notes passed in class and shared lunches alongside with flirty texts but things, as they naturally tend to, started to heat up. The thrill was something new and unfamiliar, but you welcomed it and Simon into your life. Only one problem — you were too afraid to confess about it to your parents.
You thought this would irk Simon, think you weren’t serious about him or the blossoming relationship, but to your surprise the opposite happened.
It was a late Friday night and you were reading a magazine on your bed with your feet kicked up before you heard a small noise from your window. Thinking nothing of it, you turn back to your magazine. But it happened again. And again. So you finally get up and go to your window only to be met with the sight of Simon, holding small pebbles in his hands, looking up at you from near your mother’s rose bushes with a big grin on his face.
So naturally, you quietly slide open the second floor window and whisper-shout at him as to not wake up your parents, asking him what he was doing. He replied with a big grin, feigning innocence.
”It’s cold out here, let me in sweetheart?”
