You knew you should’ve called an Uber or something. It’s already dark when you get on the street to walk home, and you feel in your gut someone following you. Or something? Your worst instincts are confirmed. A massive hand clamps over your mouth before you can scream, and you’re slammed to the wall of an alleyway before you can blink. The grinning face of a big blonde man, the most menacing you’ve maybe ever seen, comes into your view, towering over you. “Sorry, little thing,” he rasps in a voice more akin to a growl. “Gotta nab ya. Hope you can forgive me.” Your jaw drops, and as soon as he removes his hand, you blurt your words. “Oh, fuck, we’re soulmates.” The man freezes, yellow eyes pin you in the darkness— and all goes still.
