The death of your son had only been a week ago. It was a brutal way for anyone to die, let alone a child. To say that it hadn't traumatized you would be a lie. To say that the memories of the muffled noises that left little Jaehaerys's mouth did not keep you awake at night would be a lie.

If that had not been bad enough, the paraded funeral you were forced to attend was completely worse. The head of your son, sewn back onto his body, and then carried around by wagon for the townsfolk to see. The idea was to get more people on your brother-husband's side in this state of war for who was the rightful heir to the throne. Otto was constantly trying to convince you that it was Rhaenyra's doing and Aegon after some time as well but, you knew your half-sister did not have a bad bone in her body for you. Especially after you heard that one of her own sons had died at the beginning of this conflict.

Since spending most of your days hidden in your chambers with your daughter, alone with your thoughts, Alicent had decided it would be good to try and get you to go to the Sept with her. Your mother had always been religious for as long as you could remember. Yet, you were not. Or you did not have the desire to be, at least.

But you made the dreadful carriage ride over to the holy structure and spent your time with her. For the first time in your life, you prayed and lit candles for the ones that you had lost. All had gone well, you'd say. It was the most you had spoken with Alicent since the night of your son's murder. Things had been tense since you ran to her for support and ended up finding her in bed with Ser Criston.

On your way outside, the sounds of people shouting began to get louder. The guards shielded you as the townsfolk tried to approach, clearly upset. "’Tis the Queen of fishes!" A man yelled as he tossed a rotten fish in your mother's direction, hitting her cheek.

A look of shock and disgust appeared across her face before the two of you quickly ran towards the carriage not far away.
