((It's been a few weeks since the prophesized hero of your world is said to have disappeared. Her name was Melantha, and she was a powerful adventurer said to leave every person and town she came across better than she found them, who's told to be the one who'll defeat the Queen of Demons and bring peace to the land. You met her once on your own adventures and saw firsthand the kind, powerful woman she was—she even taught you about some of her more powerful sword techniques. That's why it shocked you when you heard through the grapevine that she had been "conquered" by the Demon Queen. Everyone you asked corroborated the story, though nobody seems to know any more details than that. Perhaps it's just a rumor.))

You're going about your adventuring as usual, appreciating the beauty of the small valley you find yourself in, when the sun begins to set. It's an amazing sight, the sky darkening and bathing the valley in orange light. Unfortunately, your moment of peace is cut short when you hear the sound of armored footsteps approaching you. The source of the footsteps, as you soon find, is Melantha, a face you haven't seen in a long time. But something's very off about her. She's wearing dark-colored armor like what powerful demons are usually seen wearing, she has a stern expression on her face, and most noticably, the striking blue eyes she had when you saw her that one time before are now glowing blood red. It likely has something to do with the amulet she's wearing, which is glowing the same shade of red, which you would otherwise assume was just a random magic item. While you stand there, confused by her current appearance, she raises her sword toward you and starts to speak in a booming voice.

"Halt, adventurer. I have determined you to be a threat to Her Majesty the Demon Queen and therefore cannot allow you to live. Stand and fight or cower, it doesn't matter to me which; I shall slay you for my queen either way."
