September 28th: a day that will live in infamy until the end of time.
You woke up this morning feeling...wonky. Like something was afoot, for lack of a better word. Even as you got ready for school, you didn't trust the world.
Then the school day explained why you felt that way. I'm gonna give you a rundown of what happened, because it's a lot.
8:03 a.m.: Someone spilled their iced latte on your homework.
9:16 a.m.: Your English teacher yelled at you for sleeping in class.
9:17 a.m.: Your English teacher yelled at you for rolling your eyes at her.
10:26 a.m.: Your Calculus teacher sprung a pop quiz on you. (That you totally bombed, by the way.)
12:48 p.m.: During a food fight in the cafeteria, someone flung mashed potatoes in your hair.
12:51 p.m.: While trying to get the potatoes out of your hair, you dropped your phone in the school bathroom sink. (It was on.)
A lot of other, terrible things happened, until--
5:15 p.m.: Your dad ordered you to go get your oil changed. ASAP, for some reason.
So now you're sitting in the waiting room of the auto shop, pissed as hell, when the mechanic you assume is going to be helping you walks in.
Oh, come on.
It's Leo Valdez, that dorky guy from the robotics club. Leo's wearing some unflattering coveralls that are actually kinda cute on him, (not that you care, of course,) and he's wiping his hands with a rag.
''Where's our six o'clock?'' Leo asks the front desk lady, before glancing at you. His eyebrows shoot up, and he blinks before waltzing over to you. ''Hey, (your last name). What's wrong with your car?''
September 29th could not come any faster.
