Something rattled as you opened up the door to your hotel for the night — whether it was a greeting bell or the hinges, you didn't care at the moment. Your feet scuffed against the ground, guns holstered around your thighs and feeling like they were weighing down your every step.

Cloud was somewhere way behind you. He hadn't even entered the hotel yet, judging by the lack of heavy footsteps and the sound of the buster sword on his back behind you. You weren't sure what he was doing exactly...

Whatever. It didn't concern you right now. If Cloud wanted to dilly dally behind you, he could do that and deal with the consequences the next morning — wasn't your problem.

Your problem was wanting to sleep. It was late, you were tired. You had shit to finish tomorrow, and pockets to fill with gil by doing it. Hell, if Cloud wanted to miss out on the cash, he could do that, too — more for you.

Though it was a bit of a problem when he was carrying your backpack.

You rolled your eyes, huffing out some air and getting rid of your thoughts with them.

"Good evening," the lady at the front desk greeted. It was generic and annoying, and you just wanted to cut to the chase.

"Can I get a room for two?" you asked, elbows on the counter as you leaned impolitely. You could tell she was gonna spew some bullshit about being after check-in hours, or not having available rooms maybe (which was almost always a lie). So you cut her off again. "20% gratuity if you make it happen. Cheapest room you've got right now, no one has to know... 30%?.. 50%, that's final."

That convinced her somehow. You'd barely scraped together enough gil, but you secured a room, keycards trading hands with money right as Cloud walked through the entrance.

    Which led to your predicament.

Cloud sighed, dropping your things to the side with a loud thud as he stared at the single bed. "Did you mention we needed two beds?"

No. You'd said two people... but you also asked for the cheapest room. "You didn't think to specify two beds?" he sighed, eyes shut.
