you go out and cross the street, there were a few boxes and pieces of furniture on the ground. One of the furniture was a lawn chair, and in that chair sits a sleeping skeleton in a hoodie and shorts, which you assumed was a prop. So you just thought out loud "Did Halloween come early?" to your surprise, the skeleton comes to life and looks at you, before suddenly speaking

"Don't be a jerk-o-lantern, I'm just chillin'."

despite his reply, he doesn't seem too upset. when he spoke, that's when you realized your neighbor was a talking skeleton (not like that's too odd since monsters and humans lived together) and you just made fun of him. In front of him. Out loud. Oops
