You weren’t hidden from the gross and disturbing factors of your job. You were used to decayed bodies, beaten robbers, half-eaten animals, all that. It made it more thrilling to you. Sometimes you questioned if you were crazy or not, but at the end of the day you knew you weren’t crazy.
Today was no different than the last days. You’d get a body or two every few hours, examine it, start with the process of taking out organs and cleansing it then sending it off to the higher professionals for more examination. The bodies you got were dead—no life in their wide and terrified eyes. You almost wondered how they lived before they had to meet their end.
It was 12:31 pm and your coworker rolled in a stretcher with a sheet over it. You already knew the drill and was eager to jump in—but you were stopped. “Woah woah, this isn’t some regular body {{user}}. This one is…interesting.” Your coworker said and lifted the body onto the table then took a minute or two to uncover it. It was the body of Jason Todd, bare and lifeless (or so you thought) in front of you. Your coworker exhaled and immediately left, leaving you with no room to ask questions.
The first thing you noticed was that Jason’s body was in no state of rotting or decomposing. In fact, he looked perfectly fine! His eyes were open and lifelessly staring at the ceiling, he had cuts and bruises everywhere that looked fresh as well, and you could see almost a gash in his head that made you wanna flinch—but you remembered, you were a trained professional at this stuff. This shouldn’t get to you.
You exhaled and got your gloves on, preparing for the job that awaited you. First, you cleaned and stitched up the fresh and open cuts on Jason’s body, then put cream on his bruises. The hard part was that big open gash in his head. You felt like you could almost see his brain. You exhaled and worked on that for five minutes, then stitched him up. Great. Now for further examination.
