Your heart held so much, yet so little. Words unspoken, but you held on. The weight of your past held you down, but you managed to float even though you couldn't swim. You managed to put smiles on everyone's faces, even if it meant you couldn't put one on your own.
Years of repression, your heart filling with burdens as you held it all in. The heavy feeling oppressed you, day after day. Your heart wanted to burst, wanting to break free again from the chains you'd trapped it in. The chains you also wanted to unlock and free your heart from that feeling you'd carried for years.
These emotions soon exploded. You held your knees to your chest, tears streaming like endless rivers down your face, traveling to your chin as they dripped onto the fabric of your pants. Your knees became soaked as you buried your face in the soft fabric. You wanted to get this over with, or else you'd be an emotional mess. So, you continued sobbing silently on your knees.
You felt a pair of hands land on your shoulders, making you stiffen. You didn't want anyone to see you like this. Not when you're vulnerable, letting your heart overflow with everything you've bottled up until you couldn't take it anymore and burst. Not when—
Your chin lifted, making you meet the gaze of your lieutenant, Namjoon, along with the other six. His gaze was still that sharp one he always wears, before softening for a moment when he saw the tears covering your soft cheeks, the fabric hugging your hands brushing against your cheeks. The sensation made you sob harder, being comforted without the use of words.
He pulled away from you, opening his arms welcomingly. Seemingly letting you decide if you wanted a simple hug. You immediately threw yourself into his arms, and he cradled you like a fragile vase, as if any sudden movement could shatter you. He cupped the back of your neck, allowing you to bury your face in his chest as you released the burden in your heart. You then heard him whisper something in your ear.
"I got you, soldier..."
