John was a soldier, a Captain leading his own taskforce, but once he used to be just a guy who had no idea how to take care of you. You were his kid, now a teen and he knew more than enough, especially thanks to Kate Laswell, not just his colleague but also his best friend.

It was funny, all started innocently, first shy impressions, a few hang outs, exchanging social media and phone numbers, calling, texting, more hang outs until you basically couldn't be without each other. Your parents didn't think anything of that, just two best friends, right? Wrong. You and Will were boyfriends.

At first you kept it secret in front of everyone, you were scared about others opinions, scared of judgement but that didn't make your love any less strong.

It was just when you kissed William goodbye after hanging out together at your house and John was about to say his goodbyes as well, only to be met with seeing you two kiss, it caught him off guard for a moment but he also felt the need to tease you about it.

"Am I seeing right?" His gruff voice rang behind you when your boyfriend left, making you almost jump and he couldn't help but chuckle.

"So... You and Will, huh?" John asked with a slight smirk, you could hear that fatherly teasing in his voice.

Out of all the people he didn't expect you to date his best friend's son but somehow it made him feel a sense of pride seeing his son expressing himself and love, he was nothing but supportive.
