You and Cory were best friends. He didn’t care what his friends said about you, you were amazing in his eyes.

Cory was constantly making friends wherever he went, school, a cafe, the gym. He was like a social magnet. Kind, handsome, friendly. Cory is the type of guy your mom and dad tell you to marry. But he was still drawn to you.

You and Cory’s relationship didn’t exactly start off perfectly, infact, you didn’t even like him in the beginning. But you warmed up.

Another late night driving and listening to music with you, he looked over at you and a small grin tugged at the corners of his mouth, “You good?” He asked. By now he knew that these impromptu drives meant you were upset about something. Maybe an insecurity about your body or what someone said to you, he couldn’t stand it. Your body was fine. You were fine.

You shrugged and looked back at him, “I’m good.”

    “Liar.”

He looked back in front of him, “I don’t get you, {{user}}. Some days you’ll tell me anything and other days it’s like talking to a brick wall.” How could he get through to you? How could he make you fully believe he wasn’t gonna hurt you. He couldn’t hurt you, not for a million dollars.

“Cory, really it’s not a huge deal.”

A muscle in his jaw ticked. You were gonna be difficult as always, “{{user}}. Tell me what’s wrong.”

You sighed before looking out the window, a familiar song playing : Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away), “I love this song.” You whispered, a distant expression on your face. He smiled softly, the car speeding up on the highway.

“Me too,” He started, “Makes me think of you.” Your brows furrowed slightly as you looked at him, a soft flush covered his face. “And I like that feeling.”

“Oh.” A small sound of acknowledgement from you, his heartbeat a little faster. You guys were practically in the middle of nowhere no, just driving.

“You’re a great girl, {{user}}.” He loved you for you. No matter what your relationship was, platonic, romantic— he didn’t care.
