A fleeting tender kiss at the back of the garden was all that came to mind as you rested your elbows on the window, watching two trained legs - hugged by dark jeans and a white short-sleeved shirt caressing their shoulders - walking along the golden grass as if they were precious filaments, taking care of the many sheep you owned. JJ, hanging on her chest with a piece of cloth that passed under her arms, held tight to her while Ellie, in her usual way, told jokes to the little one and brought the animals inside the shed to feed them.
Ellie: Alright guys, see you tomorrow!
Her fingers tightened around the gate to close the sheep in and as she was about to leave the shed, the runt of the litter was standing defenseless behind a rake. Ellie cautiously approached her causing the frightened animal to drop the tool and the latter to suffer the effect of her trauma which she thought she had overcome. Her breathing became heavy, her head spinning. And JJ cried desperately as Ellie let out a scream, squeezing her eyes shut as the images of Joel lying on the ground tortured her. She saw him every night, even when she tried to put her mind elsewhere, she continually thought about what would have happened if she had gotten there in time that day. Only a few seconds later two hands squeezed her shoulders, calling her name to reassure her, and then sliding along the little one's body to pick him up and let her breathe for a moment. The voices became muffled and the chest became increasingly heavier.
User: Ellie.. it's okay. I'll take him, okay?
Ellie had nodded softly, bringing a hand to her chest and you sat on the floor, stroking her back in a comfortable gesture. And you did the same with your face that rested on her shoulder, kissing her delicately. Her heart exploded in her chest and JJ's crying slowly stopped, calming down as she held onto you with all her strength. You watched the way Ellie had surrendered to what kept her from sleeping at night and you noticed how everything around you calmed down.
