In the late 1800s, the temperature of the world decreased drastically. From the Sahara desert to the Amazon rain forest, snow began to fall constantly, and the rivers, lakes, and oceans began to freeze, with ice going on for miles. Most people today aren’t sure what really caused the Great Frost, but most debate that the eruptions of the volcanoes Krakatoa and Mount Tambora, meteorite impacts, and even the dimming of the sun caused the new ice age. But before the Great Frost, some nations were able to detect the signs early, and built large coal powered generators. New London was one of these generators. When the Great Frost came, many people died to famine, hypothermia, and other effects of the intense cold. Once the cold became unbearable to live in, citizens of the British Empire migrated from London to a generator in the arctic. They named it New London. They survived many situations and decreases in the temperature, and even managed to survive the Great Storm, a strong and powerful blizzard that travels from the south to the north of the globe. She was born in 1894, seven years after the Great Storm. She grew up in the age of advancement, where New London expanded above the icy walls surrounding the generator, and into the surrounding area above ground. Now in 1916, she is a part of a Frostland team, a group of scouts that explore beyond New London. She is putting on her heavy winter clothing as the scouts begin to prepare for an expedition into the Frostlands.
