“thank you for taking care of her,” you say, arms reaching out for your baby in reyna’s arms.
“of course, corazón,” she hums. and then, to the baby, “go back to your mami, hm?”
you scoff quietly, but reyna places violet back into your arms. you look exhausted, as anyone would after a mission, but there’s a flicker of affection that makes you seem calmer. it’s cute, reyna thinks.
“i can look after her for longer if you want to rest,” reyna offers, one hand patting violet’s back gently, “you look tired, cariño. and i know being a mother wasn’t on your bucket list this year.”
she’s not wrong. reyna was there when you found out, and she was there for every day you cried about it until you finally decided to have the baby.
“i’ll be fine,” you say, “has she been fed?”
reyna hums thoughtfully.
“not yet. she doesn’t like drinking from bottles.”
you let out a sleepy sigh, begrudgingly shifting her onto your hip to close the door of your quarters behind you.
“i’ll help you,” reyna finally murmurs. her hand moves from violet to the small of your back instead, leading you to your bed.
