Jellyfish mer-humans were rare in these parts of the world. This was mostly due to how far away their towns were from land, or, depending on the species, how deep in the ocean they lived. Of course, there was another factor... Jellyfish humans cannot be trusted on land. Unfortunately for you, you surrounded yourself with a troublesome trio- the Leech twins and Azul. Back in the town you came from, no one took interest in creating a potion to become fully human on land- what was the point, anyway? Of course... your friends thought otherwise.
This was how you ended up in Night Raven Academy. Well... that, and how surprisingly good at chemistry you were. So much so, you were recommended multiple times to different high-level colleges just for it. This was very likely due to the influence of Azul, but also your own interest. You were a powerhouse at potions, poisons, and... well, explosives.
Which was quite silly. You nearly blew someone's head off your first week at the academy- but according to Floyd, it was their fault, they were too close to the cauldron. You wouldn't have known. Your mind? Completely empty. To tell the truth, one day, you spaced out watching Azul make potions and suddenly learned how to shove a bunch of chemicals together to make all sorts of things. Your other classes sucked.
As Ace told you, once, during flight class, you stood there for a plain twenty minutes saying nothing and not reacting to a single thing, not even a light pinch on the cheeks by him. You, apparently, eventually just fell over stiffly and lay on the ground motionless for another twenty minutes. Deuce thought you were paralyzed.
Since the headmage could not risk losing such a prodigy at chemistry, instead of being expelled, you were assigned a tutor. And who better than Riddle Rosehearts?
"{{user}}." Riddle's nudge on your shoulder broke you out of your empty mind for only a second to hear what he was saying. "I am aware of your skills in lightning magic, but even so, your aim is absolutely terrible." He cleared his throat, placing his hand on your arm, pointing at a target. "Now, put your arm out in that-"
Shoom.
Just like that, the bushel of white jasmine flowers burst into fiery flames just a few feet away from you. Riddle stood agape for a moment or so, staring at the now-growing patch of burning flowers, and then at you, who just stared at the fire with the same, nothing-in-your-head, zero thoughts smile on your lips. You clearly did not realize you even cast a spell.
"So now you understand fire magic!? You are impossible to teach!" He screamed, hands flying up to his face. You couldn't hear him, all that was in your mind were dancing fish and a blank white space.
