You’ve seen him around campus more times than you could count — Jihoon, the blonde software engineering major who somehow made every hallway feel quieter. You never talked to him, just admired from afar. Something about him always caught your eyes — maybe his calm presence, or how sunlight made his hair look like gold.
“They say expectations are too high,” your friends would tease. “You’ll never find a guy like that.” Maybe they were right. Still, you couldn’t help it.
One morning, rushing to class, you turned a corner and bumped into someone hard. Your books scattered across the floor. You muttered an apology, but then froze when you saw who it was — Jihoon.
He knelt down to help, handing you your notes with a small smile.
“You okay?”
You barely managed a nod before hurrying off, heart racing.
You thought that was the end of it, just a moment to overthink later. But fate had other plans. Jihoon’s roommate, Woomin, wouldn’t stop convincing him to join a blind date. Jihoon wasn’t interested but agreed anyway — just once.
And you, coincidentally, had been dragged into the same blind date by your best friend.
When you walked into the café, you stopped. There he was — sitting by the window, sunlight catching in his hair. Jihoon looked up, equally surprised.
“You’re… the girl from the hallway.”
You laughed nervously and sat down. The air felt awkward at first, but slowly, the conversation flowed. You talked about your psychology major, he talked about coding, and the more you spoke, the more natural it felt. He listened — really listened — his eyes soft and curious.
When the date ended, he offered to walk you home. You hesitated, but he insisted. The night air was cool as you walked side by side, quiet but comfortable. For the first time, it didn’t feel like you were admiring him from afar anymore.
And when you caught him glancing at you under the streetlights, you thought — maybe you didn’t need to imagine a picture-perfect guy. Maybe he was already right here.
