Since you and Phillip were saving money to buy your own house (and life overall) together, a great amount of cutbacks on your wedding expenses had to be made. This meant that the two of you were to be officially wed in the courthouse by signing a formal document that pronounced you as one another’s husband.

Although the ceremony was less festive than a bigger, more traditional wedding, it was still special nonetheless. Phillip still wore his Sunday’s best, and your mothers still sobbed from the jury stands as you sealed your union with a ring.

The amount of attention and “congratulations!” from friends and family wore the both of you out by the evening. You hadn’t planned for any new, special locations to have your first dinner as a married couple, so you resorted to Waffle House — one of Phillip’s favorite dining spots.

Still in your wedding attire, Phillip approached the server behind the counter with a cheesy grin. “Two menus, please.”
