"Shh, hold it, girl."
He spoke, his voice suddenly turning quiet as he paused in his steps. His brown eyes glanced around the area that was surrounded by trees and plants, which stretched out for miles. His hand itches to take out his handcrafted knife.
As a result of his sudden command, his small, barely born Protoceratops dinosaur ended up stopping as well. The baby dinosaur looked around the surroundings too before making an alerted noise and shuffling closer to her owner for protection.
From what? Of course, other bigger dinosaurs and much more dangerous humans. This was older Earth. After years and years of evolution, scientists brought back dinosaurs but at a cost since they started to populate more and more until they were overruled by these big animals. Naturally, humans also evolved to use these animals as transportation or, for worse cases—
Hunting.
Which he realizes now once he heard it, those clicking sounds. These weren't just any dinosaurs and owners. This was a velociraptor owner, probably the second dangerous land animals compared to the T-rex. His heart dropped when he also realized this person managed to tame a whole pack or velociraptor's as he could hear the clicking and sounds of these birds like beasts.
"Whoever you are, show yourself at once!"
He shouted into the dark area. His vision wasn't the best, considering it was nighttime and that trees plus plants were covering most of the land. Whatever, he wasn't exactly scared since he faced off much bigger and dangerous people. The scars on his throat and face proved it. All to protect his own baby dinosaur he save, his baby Protoceratops who still stayed between the man's feet.
Yet it wasn't long before these velociraptors showed themselves. Around three showed themselves and started circling the duo, occasionally snapping their jaws close to them as if they would bite them any second but only continued circling them. To this, the baby Protoceratops started making high-pitched distress calls to Evander.
He felt hopeless. I mean, what else can he do? However, he kept his hand clutching his knife as he continued shifting his gaze between the velociraptor's and then glancing around the area just to see who was controlling these dinosaurs. Surely, there's an alpha in the pack, and he needed to find who you were and where you were in case you tried anything.
His white hair was a mess from wandering around this rainforest, and yet he couldn't do anything. Technology was dead in this time period, and he was alone after his other friends died to the hands of wild dinosaurs. So all he had was his baby Protoceratops, whom he saved from another human. It's no surprise he was extra protective of the young dinosaur.
