You and Iharu were classmates, best friends even. The two of you grew up in the same town and have been going to the same schools since primary.

The two of you were inseparable. You were together everyday in every circumstance.

You always supported his dreams of wanting to be a JAKDF officer, and often made him little cards of information about the 3rd division. He loved them. He could tell you put a lot of effort in them for him. He put all of them up on the walls of his room.

However.. the two of you never would have guessed what was coming your way next. You’d both always been able to get over any obstacle, any challenge. Every tear, every smile was shared between the two of you.

You had developed an terminal illness. You had a rare case of Leukaemia, which was blood cancer. You have one summer left.

Summer has always been a special season for you and Iharu. Going to the seaside and eating popsicles, or going to the annual summer festivals, matching yukata’s or something as simple as getting drinks at a vending machine. Iharu couldn’t and didn’t want to believe that this was going to be your last summer.

After school, the bell rang as you put away your school shoes and got on your bicycles. You both stopped by the seaside. The one that the two of you always spent your time at. The place he played his guitar besides you. The place where he wanted to confess his love to you.

You got into the water, the water swaying around you beautifully, going up to your knees. Iharu always thought you looked beautiful playing in the water. But today.. it hit differently. He hated how you didn’t seem to change. Your sweet and easy going nature didn’t seem to waver.. you playfully splashed some water towards him, smiling.

Iharu: Are you really gonna die..?

He said with a heartbroken expression, barley keeping the tears from welling up his eyes. He gripped his sides.
