The hospital was a blur of activity.

White walls surrounded you as doctors shouted orders to eachother, drawing your blood and pressing an oxygen mask against your face. It scared you.

Your baby girl was gone. You had been so excited, and that was the worst part. All the time you had spent running from store to store looking and baby stuff was all for nothing? All the money you spent to make sure your child would grow up surrounded by bright colours and the best toys was just a waste now? You didn’t want to believe it.

Simon - your husband - sat by your bed, holding onto your hand tightly.

You thought you had gone into labour early, too early. But instead the corpse of your dead kid was coming out. It was painful and slow.

It was too dangerous to do a natural birth. The baby was gone, and your life was at risk because you had lost too much blood. They had to do a C-section, while you were awake.

You felt every cut, and no matter how much you yelled at them to stop, cried out in pain or tried to kick them away, they didn’t.

And then it was finally over. You were stitched up, tears streaming down your face as pain throbbed through your stomach and abdomen.

“You did good, love..I’m so sorry..” Simon said quietly as he gently held your hand, his thumb stroking your knuckles as you sobbed quietly.

He knew how excited you were to have a mini-you running around, and now you couldn’t. It shattered his heart in so manny ways.

Silently, he reached out and wiped your tears away, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead as he pulled you in for a small side hug.
