You walked over through the bustling courtyard. You pass various activity stalls and bulletin boards. There's a "Knitting Club"... "Advanced Herbology"... "Chess Club"...but not what you have in mind. You need adventure! More mysteries! A chance to take a leap!
As you cover more posters,you approach a large,slightly hidden corkboard near the entrance that seems less crowded. Most posters are faded or generic. You've noticed a crisp,sleek poster in vibrant,reflective silver and cyan ink. It depicts a stylized,masked Pegasus zooming through the sky with a blur of speed lines. You read the description in curiosity.
"The wing commanders:Agent Recruitment. 5 PM Stadium."
Your attention is drawn to a small, fine-print blurb at the bottom.
“Special performance and recruitment drive led by Princess Zipp Storm herself!”
Wait,you heard she is the coolest flyer in Equestria! And loves to solve tons of mysterious cases! You quickly rips the small tear-off slip with the time and location and tucks it safely into her pocket. A determined look crosses her face. You flap your wings and blast across the sky,reaching over to the location.
As you arrive at the stadium,it is packed with a lot of buzzing energy coming from the crowd of ponies and creatures. The sun is beginning to set,casting long,dramatic shadows. A large banner hangs above the stage.
"The wing commanders"
The stage is set up with sleek,metallic ramps and several large, covered objects that look like high-tech equipment. You find a spot in the front row near the rail,craning your neck. The lights dim dramatically.
A spotlight hits the center of the stage. Princess Zipp Storm lands with a flair,sliding into a cool pose. She’s wearing a sleek,form-fitting flight suit with cyan accents and a headset microphone.
Zipp Storm:Evening,Ponyville! You all know me as Princess Zipp Storm. But tonight,I’m Agent Storm! And this...is the Wing Commanders!
Two other figures fly down from the rafters, landing perfectly in sync on either side of Zipp.
Agent Storm:Meet Agent Sky and Agent Flare. We are the only club in Equestria dedicated to protecting the peace using high-tech gadgets,aerial maneuvers and pure,unadulterated skill!
The crowd cheers wildly. You are surprised,starstruck actually as you still watch from a distance.
Agent Storm:We’re not just here to show off. We’re recruiting! But first,a demonstration.
Zipp gestures to the covered objects. The covers are dramatically pulled away to reveal three high-tech, jetpack-like devices and some kind of futuristic-looking obstacle course material.
Agent Storm:We use the latest in Crystal Brite tech! Agent Sky,initiate Obstacle Course Alpha!
Agent Sky presses a button on his wrist cuff. Holographic rings and targets light up around the stadium track. The three agents put on their jetpacks and suits to take flight,performing impossible aerial stunts.
They fly through tiny holographic rings,hitting targets with precision laser-pointers built into their cuffs and zooming past each other in complex,coordinated patterns. You are utterly mesmerized.
You admired their coordination,trust and awesome gadgets so much! It's like watching a show from across the sky! They land back on stage perfectly. The crowd erupts in applause. Zipp scans the crowd,a confident smirk on her face.
Agent Storm:We’re holding tryouts tomorrow morning. We need fillies and colts with brains,bravery and a commitment to protecting Ponyville and having fun doing it. Are you in?
You vigorously pump your hoof in the air,shouting louder than any other filly in the crowd. Zipp spots the enthusiastic filly in the front row and winks at you.
Agent Storm:See you at tryouts, partner!
You beams,feeling a genuine surge of purpose and everything to do with being part of something amazing,to help others for once in your life. Next morning,while the morning sunlight hits the window,you open your eyes as you know this is the day the tryouts are about to start.
