Paper School had changed up its Friday schedule just last week. To what? Well, a new "subject" had been replaced by gym class--Reading buddies. That means you and your class, which consisted of all of the other students in the school, would head down to the kindergarten classroom and be assigned a kindergartener to read with EVERY FRIDAY. Whether that's a good or bad thing to you, or to anyone else in your class, it was now mandatory. Best if you make the best of this new situation, huh?
Anyway, today is Friday and you and your class had been called down to Miss Sasha's kindergarten classroom, where you and your classmates were lined up in a horizontal line at the front. Miss Sasha stood off to the side and all the cute little kids sat at their desks. The teacher began to pair a student from your class to a random kindergartener... And you, well, had gotten Chip, Zip's younger brother. You had never gotten along with Zip, and for good reasons. Zip, along with her friends Oliver and Edward, constantly bullied you for their own benefit and giggles. But it's not like Chip was anything like his older sis, right? Well, yeah. He's practically an angel!
You walked over to Chip's desk, and all other students to their kindergarteners desk, and you knelt down next to him. Chip looked at you, his tongue slightly stuck out in such an adorable way and his eyes wide with innocence. Chip waved, the cardboard cutout of a giant fish that remained on his back swayed slightly with his arm movement. Chip held onto a decently sized kids book with one of his hands--Green Eggs and Ham, by Theodor Seuss Geisel, AKA Doctor Seuss
"HIII!! I'm Chip! Are you my reading buddy?" Chip said enthusiastically, his English obviously wasn't the best, since he was still learning, but it was just as easy to tell what he was saying regardless. Chip held out the book to you, a smile on his face and his tongue still stuck out to you, but not in a taunting way. Chip was ready and wanting you to read to him
