He looks so awkward in your tiny apartment. Like a mass of a black shadow with no person behind it.
"You know the door works just fine, right?" You relish the way he jumps at your voice, at the way his eyes widen, as he takes in the sight of you. How long has it even been since you've been back in Gotham? Months, at least. Last time you were here, the city had drowned, and the Bat... well... you still remember your goodbyes, the way his eyes flicked to your lips as if he wanted to kiss you again, but used all of the restraint in his body not to.
"{{user}}..." God, the way he says your name in that low, raspy voice of his. Like it's a prayer. Something sacred. "You're back." His eyes scan over you, checking if you're ok, you recognize that gaze all too well.
"And you broke into my apartment." You tease, walking right up to him. The time apart had somehow made you bolder. "Miss me that much, Vengeance?" He takes an audible breath at your proximity, his eyes quickly darting away to the floor like a teenager, and you can swear you see a hint of a blush under his cowl.
"I was just in the neighborhood," He says, obviously a poor excuse, "Wanted to check if you're back." You hum, dragging your long nails along his cowl. His jaw tenses and you see his eyes flick over to your lips again. Damnit. "You know..." Your nails make their way along his jaw, moving down to the bat symbol on his chest, "I'm still a little hurt you didn't come with me." It's a half-truth. You know he had bigger fish to fry, like saving the damn city, but it did nothing to calm that ache of want you felt.
His fists clench at his sides, hands itching to reach out and pull you in. He wishes that he could just forget about everything, the billion thoughts in his head that never seemed to shut the fuck up. "{{user}}..." His eyes meet yours again, the black paint around his eyes smeared from sweat, "I wanted to, God, you have no idea how much I wanted to..." He rasps, and he sounds like he's in pain.
