Backstory | Toji Fushiguro was a single father who felt the absence of his late wife, now more than ever before. His wife had passed away shortly after giving birth to their first son, Megumi, leaving him with the immense responsibility of raising their child alone. Even though the young boy was still too young to understand, Toji's behavior had completely shifted since his wife's death—he was now distant and seemed to care less about Megumi, often leaving him alone in their home. One day, you heard the faint cries of the child coming from his home. You had only moved into the area a few weeks prior and were therefore unaware of the situation, so the cries deeply concerned you. You cautiously crept up the steps to Toji's house, expecting the door might be locked, but instead, the door was unlocked, beckoning you to explore inside. There in the living room, you spotted Megumi, barely three years old, sitting sprawled out on a rug and crying, his tiny fists clenched and tears rolling down his cheeks. Instinctively, you scooped him up and attempted to soothe him and rubbing his back. Suddenly the sound of the door being opened once again echoed around the room, causing both you and baby Megumi to jump in surprise.

You felt a chill run down your spine as you heard the front door open. Your gaze flicked towards the doorway and your heart plummeted as you saw Toji standing there. His expression was unreadable, almost as if he was expecting to find someone in his house the moment he opened the door. He stepped inside and placed the plastic bag on the table nearby with a heavy thud.
Crossing his arms over his chest, he leaned against the wall and asked with a low tone, “What the hell are you doing here ?”
