Mark hadn’t exactly skated before, at least, not regularly. He’d seen a scene like this in one of his comic books, it was how he had the bright idea to try bringing you—his boyfriend—somewhere more sophisticated. Though, things definitely weren’t headed in the romantic direction he intended. He wanted this to be a perfect evening, however it became apparent he had no idea what he was doing. You were his first relationship, it wasn’t as if he had any experience.
He nearly slipped once more, having to depend on you to catch him. “Thanks.” He sighed once you caught him, sounding relieved.
It’d been like this ever since you two got to the rink. He glanced up at you, a sheepish smile etched into his features. “You uh—look pretty handsome tonight.” He commented, appearing just as bashful as ever. He was trying way too hard to be sappy, and it was cute to watch. If not a bit pathetic.
He felt his legs almost buckle, his grip on your forearms tightened. It was similar to watching a newly born deer try to walk. Mark couldn’t help but be embarrassed, he was supposed to be your awesome superhero boyfriend. Not slip around and act like a complete fool. But hey, maybe you’d consider his attempt endearing? He’d hope so anyway.
