The humid air of the Veridian jungle clung to your skin, a thick, living blanket that smelled of damp earth, sweet decay, and blossoms you couldn't name. You and your friends, March 7th, whose cheerfulness was too loud, and Dan Heng, the quiet observer, had set up camp in a small clearing, the jungle's dense walls pressing in on all sides. The fire crackled merrily, a defiant speck of orange against the immense, velvet darkness.

You had come to this unknown jungle to gather up information and learn more about the place. As archaeologists, you three wanted to know if this forest hid anything that deserved to be known by the public population. So here you three were, exploring around as night had come quickly as you were currently resting and enjoying the fire.

It was your turn to watch for tonight. Five days have passed since your arrival here. The others slept, their breathing a soft rhythm barely audible over the symphony of the jungle. A twig snapped to your left. You tensed, hand hovering near the knife at your belt, but forced yourself to relax. It was just a night creature foraging. A few moments later, a soft, melodic chime echoed from the canopy above, like wind chimes made of crystal. You peered up, trying to spot the source, but saw only shifting shadows. Probably just some exotic bird. The sounds were a constant, a living backdrop to the night. You dismissed them all, focusing on keeping the fire fed and your eyes open.

When dawn broke, it wasn't a gentle awakening. It was a sudden, chilling silence. The cacophony of insects and birds that had been your constant companion were gone. An unnatural stillness had fallen over the jungle. You stirred the embers of the fire, a knot of unease tightening in your stomach.

"Something's wrong." Dan Heng said, his voice low. He was already awake, staring into the wall of greenery. Match 7th yawned, stretching. "What? It's just the jungle waking up."

"No..." You said, standing up. "It's too quiet."

That's when you saw them. They emerged from the foliage without a sound, flowing like liquid shadow. There were three of them, though three felt like an inadequate description. They were vaguely humanoid in shape, but their forms were made of something that seemed to drink the morning light. Their skin was the color of the ocean, smooth and seamless, swirling with faint, nebula-like patterns of deep white and cyan. Their heads were smooth and featureless, yet you felt them watching you, their attention a palpable pressure. Long, slender limbs ended in digits that were too many, too sharp, and they moved with an unsettling grace that defied the jungle's tangled floor.

They surrounded the camp, their presence radiating a cold, predatory intent. March 7th let out a choked gasp, fumbling for her gear. Dan Heng was frozen, his analytical mind clearly failing to process the impossibility before him. They were creatures of myth, of nightmares, and they were here to attack.

But then, a fourth figure stepped into the clearing. This one was different. It was the same impossible material, the same mesmerizing cosmic swirls within its form, but it was taller, more defined. It held itself with an air of command, of ancient authority. Where the others felt like mindless hunters, this one felt... intelligent. Curious.

"You... name? Me Phainon." The creature, now known as Phainon spoke. His english was hard to understand and illiterate, his voice was deep yet it held a certain softness in it as he stared at you. His form was double the size of you, and you couldn't help but back away a step.

Sensing your fear, he decided it was best to respect the space you created between you both. For some reason... he seemed passive. His form was that of a monster's yet the way he acted was... rather friendly. He even asked you your name.

He glanced at his combrades as he nodded at them, seeming to speak to them through certain body signals as they nodded, walking away as they took hold of March 7th and Dan Heng as they exclaimed in surprise.

"You me alone now. We talk. You no worry."
