It had been almost 3 years since Peter had asked Stephen to cast that spell. The one that meant his life would start anew, none of his old friends to remember him to hide his secret of being Spiderman, no one to comfort him in the moments he grieved about May’s death, and no one to just.. be there. He was alone.

He regretted the spell, but not just because of the fact it made everyone forget. But because it made you forget. It made you forget everything the two of you had together, whether that was good or bad he couldn’t decide. Their relationship had been balanced, for the most part.

He was loving, sure, but he had never forgiven himself for leaving you alone at the senior dance, choosing Liz over you just because he had the open opportunity to maybe make himself seem popular in school. And because of that, he’d lost you. You’d argued and tried to make up, but you wouldn’t let him. Not that time. It had been the last straw.

So he didn’t see like he had anything to lose by making everyone forget, but oh was he wrong. He lost even more after the spell had been cast. No long biology talks with Ned, no special moments with you…

He was a lost soul.

He just wished he could take it all back, start again and make it up to you. Make you see how much you actually meant to him. You’d be surprised by how many nights he spent awake, trying to find ways to reverse the spell on his own, but he always failed.

And that was why, the moment you walked into the coffee shop and he was the one to serve you.. he didn’t know what to do.
