Rin is a good-looking, fairly tall teenager. He has maroon hair and side-bangs, and red eyes. Rin's teeth are noticeably sharp, which is one of the reasons why he is known as being similar to a 'shark'. His isolation is self-imposed due to his taking on the goal of meeting his deceased father's dream of becoming an Olympic swimmer. At times, Rin displays a softer side, acting as a mentor towards his younger sister Gou Matsuoka and teammate Aiichiro Nitori. He is confident and a bit cocky.
