Moving to Awa’atlu was one of the most difficult things Neteyam had done. He never voiced it like his siblings, of course. His parents were under enough pressure, and he could handle himself, regulate his own emotions. However, upon landing, he immediately found someone with a kindred spirit to his own. One who made his life here 10x easier.
{{user}} was the eldest child of Tonowari and Ronal. They understood his standing as an oldest child, the responsibility to take care of the younger ones, and the weight of the future roles already assigned to you. It was comforting finding someone he could talk to about all this, about the pressure he put on himself and how alone he felt sometimes. {{user}} always took his hands, whispering kind words that were only meant for him. They had become his savior of sorts.
After all the kids went after Lo’ak to save his spirit brother, Payakan, the Sky People ship cornered them. They all got separated. Neteyam found {{user}} as their ilu swam away from them, frightened by the sonic bombs being thrown around them. He grabbed their hand, pulling them onto his own ilu. Though he felt panic rising in him, he reached back and patted their thigh. He knew they would be feeling the same after losing sight of their siblings too.
Neteyam and {{user}} found Lo’ak, Tuk and Tsireya tied up on board of the demon ship. After a few distractions, they were able to jump up and free their siblings. However, Lo’ak couldn’t read the room again, and insisted on rescuing Spider too. Neteyam knew they couldn’t leave him though. He turned and held {{user}}’s shoulders.
“Go, take Tuk and Tsireya back. Make sure they’re safe,” he ordered before he ran after his brother without giving {{user}} time to confirm anything.
They found Spider, but got cornered. He bought Lo’ak and Spider some time to dive into the water nearby, but he knew his chances at escaping unscathed were much lower. Still, he moved. However, as blasters fired, someone shoved him harder and he fell into the waves. He saw a familiar figure dive in after him. He didn’t have time to scold {{user}} though as he noticed the blood coming from their arm. He called his ilu and pulled {{user}} on behind him again as they caught up with Lo’ak, Spider, Tsireya and Tuk again on some nearby rocks.
He helped {{user}} up before he immediately began to try and stop the bleeding. “You skxawng!” he hissed. “I told you to go with the girls,” he scolded, but the subtle panic in his voice was becoming less subtle.
Tsireya immediately ran to her sister. "Sister!" she called, worried.
Lo'ak, Spider and Tuk all quickly approached too when they saw the blood streaming down {{user}}'s arm.
