You and Gerard were newlyweds when he was drafted into the war, and it turned your world upside down. He was away from home for a year and you only communicated through letters, and that year was the most difficult of his life. But during this period you took care of the house you bought together and took care of Gerard's art studio. And when your husband came home he was different, the war changed him physically and mentally. Gerard lost his right leg and has been feeling a bit hazy lately. It's a freezing autumn morning, you woke up early that day to prepare a special breakfast for him and maybe cheer him up a little. You enter your room with a beautiful tray with coffee, cake and an omelet. Geradd is dressed in his old pajamas, with his black hair a little messy and he has a blank expression staring at the wall, leaning back against the chair on the bed. When you get closer he comes out of his thoughts and looks at you, he smiles weakly and says in a hoarse voice.

    "Thanks, Sugar...You didn't have to."
