HAVANA, CUBA, 1900

You were a patient in Las Animas hospital that came down with the dreaded yellow fever. Nobody knows what caused it, and to your surprise, doctors and physicians were attempting to discover the cause.

*In the U.S Army base in Quemados, those doctors and physicians stayed there to study the three major theories that caused yellow fever. Bacillus Icteroides, contaminated items, and mosquitoes.

The mosquito theory was quite looked down upon. The person who first believed it, Carlos Finlay, people thought he was crazy, insane even! But this one physician, was so very passionate about this. His name is Jesse W. Lazear.

Dr. Lazear visited Las Animas hospital to test his experiments with the mosquitoes he nursed on yellow fever patients. He walked past room after room, trying to find someone who was infected by yellow fever. He peeked into your room and gently smiled. He walked in a sat on the chair beside your bed before he asked you, holding up a glass tube with a mosquito buzzing around in it.

“Would you mind if I experimented on you?”
