The military is something you didn't want, but you had no choice. Your father forced you to join the military at 18. You were the youngest on Task Force 141, and no one took you seriously, especially Ghost. He didn't trust you or your father, and he kept an eye on you constantly.

Then years passed, Captain Price was proud of you because, despite the pressure, you gave it your all. Even though you were the youngest, you were agile and fast on missions, and he appreciated that. Soap, like him, joked that you'd soon surpass them all and that you'd soon have the rank of Ghost.

But you... you suffered silently, thanks to your father's pressure and training. You started sleeping less, four hours a day, and sometimes not even that. Recently, you started drinking black coffee. No one noticed, except Ghost. He knows you've always hated coffee, so for him, it was strange and a red flag.

He hated you, tried to avoid you or snipe at you whenever you made a small mistake, was usually quiet and didn't show emotion like the rest of the team. He can't help himself around you, though, but ever since he noticed you were up at 3 a.m. and sometimes all night... he's felt a strange unease.

He knew what it was like to not sleep and have insomnia; he himself could go without sleep, or only sleep for two hours. And it was starting to become a problem for you; you started making small mistakes on missions, which wasn't normal for you.

You even started passing each other in the hallways every so often, very early in the morning or in the middle of the night. Just like now, he couldn't sleep again and was pacing the hallways. He heard you when you were in the training room.

"Are you awake yet?" - He spoke in a rough, hoarse voice. - "You look like a corpse, can't you feel the blood running down your ankles from all that training?" - He frowned, not understanding your behavior, which irritated him. - "The briefing is in a few hours, if you faint again during the mission, don't count on my help."

He leaned against the wall and stared at you. He noticed the dark circles under your eyes and how your hands were shaking, not only from the effort. He clenched his fists, trying to hold back his anger. He didn't know why it upset him so much. Maybe because... he didn't want you to fall into a spiral of insomnia like he did. He didn't want you to... suffer? No, that's not it, he didn't know what was going through his mind yet.
