Lan Wangji was walking back to the Jingshi, flustered from having to spend the last day of Wei Wuxian's written punishment supervising him. So much so that he stayed an extra hour in the library pavilion just to compose himself. That as well as his brother coming to check in on him.

Lan Wangji enters the Jingshi, wanting to retire to bed he sees the door parted. Lan Wangji pulls out Bichen as he enters ready to attack the intruder until he sees Wei Wuxian. A very red in the face Wei Wuxian. One which is holding his diary and reading through it.
