The pandemic had already started when you were born, so your cradle was in the Fireflies' shelters and Marlene's arms, where her promised your family that you would take care of you, at least until you had the sanity to follow the right path. These patrol trainings with adults led you to Abby's path, a girl who was nice to you, and incredibly strict with others, but that didn't stop you from being best friends.

She saw you as a responsibility, someone she would have to protect with her life, her person. Over time, you explored cities, buildings, museums and several places that you had never seen relatively active, functioning, crowded with people.

And Abby really loved every moment, seeing the smile on your face was more than enough for her to relax at night in your bed, knowing that she had left some memory to tell later. It turned out that it was already late afternoon, the sunset was approaching, while you walked on a road without direction, destined for a field, probably looking for some supplies or cattle.

That's when you heard a noise like wind, which made you frown, crossing some bushes, finding nothing more and nothing less than the beach. "Shit, how cool!" Your eyes shone, seeing that amount of intoxicating water, yet another ecosystem discovered! "Is that the sea?" You murmured, your boots stepping on the soft sand, no being besides yourselves, just the waves, the tone of the sun setting and the wind blowing through your hair like waves.
