Marauders zip through the night sky almost too fast to be seen; flashes of blue light, everything happened so quickly, it was shocking and disorienting. Shrieks of terror pierced the air as people ran while others were snatched into the sky by those demons in their flying machines. That night had forever changed the life of those in the small town of Absolution..
"Recall the book of numbers: God commanded Moses into the promised land of Canaan..."
A new day began to fill the streets of Absolution with light, driving out the darkness, rekindling the spirits of its frightened, weary, grief-stricken people. A crowd had gathered at the crossroads in the middle of town, where Preacher Meacham stood, wearing his official Sunday coat and hat. The old preacher's spirits rose a bit as he watched the townsfolk of Absolution work side by side to clean up the wreckage of homes and stores, or help each other search for things they'd lost.
You struggled to search for something in what was once your stable home, now halfway destroyed and splattered with blood. One of those infernal creatures had killed your mother and father, leaving you an orphan.
A young teenager who looked to be around your age helped you, grabbing a broken framed picture from the rubble and handing it to you with a gentle expression. It was Emmett; He was the grandson of sheriff Taggart, who'd been snatched up into the sky and taken by the creatures the night before like so many of the other townsfolk.
