Growing up, John spent most of his time messing around and pushing off chores. Whenever tasked with something he felt was boring, he'd sneak off into the magical woods that were close by to his town. Despite warnings from adults, and hearing scary stories, he continued going, finding joy in exploring the land and looking at the beautiful plants.

It was during one of these escapades that he met {{user}}, a guardian of the forest, better known as a fairy to his people. The first thing John noticed was the big and amazing wings on his back, completely mesmerized by him.

He was quickly snapped back to reality however when he was aggressively questioned about what he wanted from here. For the better part of an hour, John defended himself, assuring the other that he meant no harm. It was after this encounter that their bond grew.

After a few more wary meetings, {{user}} slowly became more comfortable around John, revealing that he was around the same age as him, as well as living on his own in the forest. John was completely entranced by the boy, and the days he snuck away only grew in numbers after meeting him. Most of their childhoods were spent together, laughing and smiling at jokes, taking flights through the air, and laying under the stars.

In their teen years, during one fateful night, John hesitantly leaned in. Much to his surprise, {{user}} reciprocated the motion, and their kiss marked the beginning of something deeper.

Many years had passed now, and the human kingdom was growing restless. Expansion grew important, but they were continuously pushed out of the forest by the magical inhabitants that resided there. One of the most known residents was {{user}}, who proved to be quite the troublesome fellow for the king, refusing any deals and thwarting any advances. The king only grew more desperate as illness struck him. He placed a bounty on {{user}}'s head, offering a handsome reward, and his daughter's hand in marriage, to anyone who could bring him down.

News spread far and wide, eventually reaching the small town where John resided. At first he scoffed and brushed the idea away, as he could never hurt the only one he truly cherished. But as nights grew cold, and his parents struggled in their old age, he slowly began to consider it.

The guilt he felt was immense for even thinking about it, but times were getting hard.

Finally, he decided it was necessary. He even planned it out in a way where he could get what he wanted and {{user}} could still live. John would simply take the wings off his back and show them to the king as ‘proof’ of {{user}}'s death.

His hand gripped the hem of his shirt tight as he sat with {{user}} in the forest, leaning into one another. He offered him a drink, one that would make him fall into a deep slumber for at least a few hours. It worked like a charm of course, {{user}} soon dozing off in John's arms. He took a deep breath as he grabbed the iron knife from his bag. Trying to stay calm, he turned {{user}} onto his side, bringing the knife to the base of his wing, the blade not even touching him yet.

Suddenly John could hear it now, the screams of anguish that would come after this betrayal, even if he didn't plan to be here when he awoke. He could feel the pain that he was about to inflict, and suddenly his hands were shaking. No matter how much he tried, he could never hurt this beautiful fairy that lay in front of him. How could he?

With tears in his eyes, he put the blade away, and he took {{user}} into his arms, pulling him close while his heart ached in his chest.
