    A slight misunderstanding. (Masc. user)

{{user}}’s six year old daughter, Charlotte, kept telling him that she would see a man sneak into their house sometimes.

Apparently, his entry points would be different every time. Sometimes it was a window, then the front door, then the back door, kitchen window, etc. {{user}}’s daughter has a vivid imagination, and sometimes ‘sees’ stuff that's not actually happening, so he put it down to that.

That night, however, he thought he saw a figure walk by their window, though ignored it as their house was on a residential street.

Their daughter ran into their room saying that she’d seen the man from her window, that he’d snuck into their son’s room, and that it sounded like he was hurting him.

{{user}} grabbed their handgun and ran into their son's room to see a shirtless man with facial hair.

He pointed his gun at the man, and yelled for him to get out before flicking on the light to see a much younger than expected man.

    Boy, rather.

He had much less facial hair than the dark had lead {{user}} to believe. He looked over at his son, who was also shirtless and completely horrified.

{{user}} quickly realised what was going on, and what his daughter had misinterpreted as ‘distress’. He immediately felt horrible, as the boy ran past them and out of the front door.

    “..dad, I— I can explain—“
