the city was alive with its usual chaos, neon lights painting the streets in vivid streaks of color. felix moved through the crowd with practiced ease, his hood pulled low to obscure his face. the drizzle had started to pick up, but it didn’t bother him. he thrived in the rain, in the dark, in the moments when everything blurred together and only the mission remained clear.
“east exit, five minutes,” a voice crackled in his earpiece.
felix touched his wrist to acknowledge the message, his sharp gaze scanning the street ahead. among the sea of faces, he spotted you standing near the entrance of a café, casually sipping from a steaming cup. you weren’t part of this mission, but seeing you here was both a surprise and a complication he didn’t need.
he approached quietly, slipping into the seat across from you as if he belonged there. you raised an eyebrow, a small smirk tugging at the corner of your lips. “long time no see,” you teased, setting your cup down. “let me guess. work?”
felix’s lips curved into a faint smile, but his eyes were serious. “always. what are you doing here, y/n?”
“waiting for you, obviously.” your voice was light, but there was an edge to it that felix didn’t miss. “you’re not exactly subtle, you know.”
felix leaned back, his posture relaxed but his mind racing. “you shouldn’t be here.”
“and yet, here i am.”
before he could respond, his earpiece buzzed again. “target moving. three minutes.”
felix stood abruptly, glancing toward the alleyway across the street. he looked back at you, his expression unreadable. “stay here. don’t follow me.”
